The Boss is back.

With very little fanfare, Bruce Springsteen has shared his 19th studio album Western Stars, a set inspired by the Southern California pop records of the late ‘60s and early ’70s, from Glen Campbell to Jimmy Webb, Burt Bacharach and others.

“This record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements," explains Springsteen in a statement. "It's a jewel box of a record.”

Stretching across 13 tracks, the new album is Springsteen’s first since 2014’s High Hopes, and it features the previously released cuts “Tuscon Train,” “There Goes My Miracle,” and the lead single “Hello Sunshine.”

Springsteen, who co-produced with LP with Ron Aniello, described his latest music journey as one that encompasses “a sweeping range of American themes, of highways and desert spaces, of isolation and community and the permanence of home and hope.”

At an event hosted by Netflix last month to promote his Springsteen on Broadway show, Springsteen admitted he has written nearly a full album's worth of material for the E Street Band.
