History Highlight : Barrett Strong, the first artist to record a hit for Motown celebrates his 74th birthday today. Strong had many hits writing the lyrics for Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight and the Pips, and The Temptations. Strong won a Grammy for writing the song, "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone," that was performed by The Temptations. But, for your history highlight let's play the song that scored Motown their first hit, and was the only hit for Strong as a vocalist, "Money (That's What I Want)."

1999 - George Harrison was stabbed repeatedly during an attempted early morning robbery at his home near London. The 56-year-old musician and his wife Olivia struggled with the intruder and were able to hold him until the authorities got there. The couple recovered from their injuries at a nearby hospital.
