Was there any doubt that the Rolling Stones would be rolling again? On Monday night, the Stones played the first concert of their European tour at the Telenor Arena in Oslo. It was the group’s first concert since the death of the fashion designer L’Wren Scott, who was also the girlfriend of the band’s singer, Mick Jagger. At the time of Ms. Scott’s death, which was ruled a suicide, the Stones were about to begin a tour of Australia and New Zealand. Those concerts were postponed until October and November.
In the meantime, the group reconvened in Oslo for rehearsals and the concert, and posted video from both (including a clip of Mr. Jagger speaking to the audience in Norwegian) on its website. The current leg of the tour includes 14 shows over the next five weeks, all in Europe except for a concert in Tel Aviv on June 4. Roger Waters and Nick Mason of Pink Floyd have asked the Stones to cancel the Tel Aviv date as part of a boycott of Israel in support of Palestinians; the Stones have neither canceled the date nor responded publicly.
